E-books: You Can No Longer Afford to Wait, and Why
One does not have to look far in our industry literature to conclude the obvious: that e-book is no longer in it’s infancy. One does not have to research what happens with a ‘tipping point’ moment involving a new technology overtaking an old technology, to conclude that *none of us* want to be caught flat-footed when that tipping-point moment arrives, with books.
That tipping-point has arrived, with February and March 2011 putting it over the top, so that now the economics of scale of a new technology taking over an old technology is now in play. There is no more time left. The time to act is ‘immediately if not sooner’ if you want your firm to survive. If you’ve never been through this kind of old-technology meltdown, you aren’t going to know what hit you and when you figure it out, it will be too late. Your only option: hit first, now.
